That's an interesting perspective on the purpose of an undergraduate thesis in architecture. I can relate to that feeling of questioning the 'why' behind certain academic exercises. I think a balance between practical application and experimental research is key. Maybe incorporating smaller research-based elements into earlier projects could bridge the gap and prepare students for a more innovative thesis. Speaking of preparation, I find a quick sudoku puzzle helps clear my head before diving into complex design problems. It's a nice mental warm-up, you know?
